In this “Leaders & Legends” episode, Al Sica sits down with Mike Christian, founder and now Executive Chairman of Risk Strategies, a $1.74 billion accession risk management group company founded in 1997 and recently acquired by insurance brokerage firm Brown & Brown. Mike and Al explore the early days of Risk Strategies, when collaboration among employees and teams was critical to competing with big brokers, through Risk Strategies’ organic shift to a focus on specialty verticals and adoption of private equity partners. Mike reflects on the culture that has made Risk Strategies so successful, including maintaining a consultative, collaborative focus and incentivizing employees to work together and perform at their best. 

 

As Mike puts it, “Focus on what you’re doing and the value that you're bringing to clients and your people. The financial aspect of it does take care of itself.”
