  • Established in 2010 by Jeff Hays and Chris Skaletsky, RLA Insurance Intermediaries (RLA) is a wholesale insurance brokerage headquartered in Boston. 

  • RLA specializes in offering professional lines, property and casualty, and healthcare coverages to meet the needs of business throughout the United States.

  • After being presented with several different options, RLA decided to partner with Peachtree Special Risk Brokers, a subsidiary of Brown & Brown, Inc (NYSE: BRO).

  • Brown & Brown, Inc. is a leading insurance brokerage firm providing risk management solutions to individuals and businesses and the world’s seventh-largest insurance brokerage.

Significance of Transaction

  • Brown & Brown was a natural fit for RLA due to shared culture, philosophy of supporting the entrepreneurial spirit, unique client focus and a historical commitment to excellence with an eye towards the long-term future.

  • The RLA partnership expands Brown & Brown’s share in the wholesale insurance market.

  • RLA Insurance Intermediaries team will continue doing business from their existing headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and other locations in West Palm Beach, Florida; Brentwood, Tennessee; Potomac Falls, Virginia; and Manassas, Virginia.  The offices will continue under the leadership of Jeff Hays and form a new stand-alone operation within Brown & Brown’s Wholesale Brokerage Segment.    

Sica | Fletcher's Role

  • RLA engaged Sica | Fletcher to explore multiple strategic options for the firm, culminating in its sale to Brown and Brown.

  • The RLA transaction builds on Sica | Fletcher's track record of success with large and complex transactions.
